The Desert Speaks – Live Projection Painting
Ryan Patrick Griffin has been experimenting with live projection painting in nature. Everything captured through the time lapse video was created on the spot, described by Griffin as “an unfolding freestyle in dancing light under the spin of the night sky.”
Live projection painting on granite boulder fields in the Sonoran desert of Arizona, Doodling giant three-eyed demons on a boulder face littered with ancient and contemporary petroglyphs at Chaco Canyon in New Mexico. These were experiences uniquely unrepeatable. Improvised painting of a women praying to the stars suddenly transforms to a green skull while hundreds of coyote yip in the thin cold cloak of the desert night air.
All of this, yet no visible trace remain.
